Wire into your router whenever possible. Stop household use of internet during recording.  A Hulu or Netflix stream during recording will likely cause your feed to cut and freeze periodically.

  • When using a built in microphone, try to stay within at least 2 feet from the computer. Any further and your audio will suffer exponentially.

  • When livable, turn off any fans or AC units in the room.

  • Mute your cell phone or anything else that may create notification sounds.

  • Stable desk.  If your desk is causing your camera to slightly shake, the effect to your video is going to make you look like you're on a boat.

  • You want light in front of your face, not behind you. A bright light behind you will cause most webcams to adjust to the brightest spot it sees, which can make your face look washed out.

  • If you're using the mic in you laptop, you'll want to sit no more a couple feet away from it, or your audio will sound like you're in a barrel. The closer the better.

  • Your camera should be at eye level or higher. If you have a laptop, prop it up.
